South Georgia - Paradoxical Island in the South Atlantic
Dec 3, 2024 On Jan 23, 2025, I will be talking on South Georgia to members & guests of the Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club. Topics covered will include the marine wildlife, the importance of the whaling industry to WW I, the role South Georgia played in the Falklands War, as well as the heroism associated with Sir Ernest Shackleton's ill-fated trip aboard the Endurance - as part of the Imperial TransAnarctic Expedition.
